Here is a message from East Sussex County Council about the Fairlight and area road closures:

As you may be aware, East Sussex Highways is implementing a road closure of Fairlight Road, Battery Hill and Pett Level Road commencing 24 August 2020. It is now confirmed that the initial section of road that will be closed is from Martineau Lane to Old Coastguard Lane. This will prevent Stagecoach bus route 101 serving the various communities at Fairlight, Pett Level and Winchelsea Beach and it will run along the A259 instead. To assist those who need to travel, East Sussex County Council is arranging a shuttle bus between Fairlight Cove and Rye where connections will be made with Stagecoach services 100/101 for passengers travelling to/from Hastings & St Leonards. The shuttle bus will be operated by Hams Travel and the timetable is attached. This particular timetable will apply for one week only. Revised arrangements will be advised for the following week when service 100/101 timetables are due to change. For those who normally pay a fare on the bus, payment will not be expected on the shuttle bus but those continuing their journeys on Stagecoach services will be expected to pay fares as normal on those buses. You will note from the timetable that there are restrictions applying to the use of the shuttle bus between Rye and the Sea Road turning as this section of route will still be served by services 100/101. Although this information is coming at a late stage, we would be most grateful for your assistance in disseminating it in your communities.
