Planned Resurfacing Works on A259 between Sea Road and the Kettle O’ Fish Roundabout

Pease see the information below received from National Highways:

A259 Winchelsea to Rye resurfacing – 19 September to 21 October 2022

We’ll soon be carrying out resurfacing and repairs to the A259 between Sea Road, Winchelsea and the Kettle O’ Fish roundabout, Rye. Resurfacing and repairing this important stretch of road will keep it safe for all road users and reduce the need for unplanned closures.

This work will be completed weeknights between Monday 19 September and Friday 21 October 2022.

We’ll make every effort to ensure the impact on the local community and travelling public is kept to a minimum, however we’ll need to close the A259 between the junction with the B2093 (Hastings) and the Kettle O’ Fish roundabout, between 8pm and 6am, Monday to Friday only, to allow us to complete the work.

We’ll be working through the night, and there will be some additional noise, please accept our apologies in advance for any inconvenience this may cause.

When the road is closed there will be a diversion in place going in both directions via the B2093, A28, A268, Rye Road to Skinners Roundabout.

We’re contacting properties with access directly off the A259 within the closure, including Harbour Road, to advise them of the support we’re providing so that they can continue to access their home or business safely during the closure.

These works are subject to change due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances, we’ll post any updates and details of any changes on our webpage: nationalhighways.co.uk/A259Rye.
