On 26th May, Councillor Jacqui Stanford, Chair of Icklesham Parish Council had the pleasure of attending the naming ceremony for Rye Harbour Sailability’s new RS Venture Connect Dinghy.

Rye Harbour Sailability is a local charity which was founded in 2017. They aim to give people of all ages with a wide range of disabilities the chance to experience the fun and freedom of sailing with an experienced helmsman.

The RS Venture Connect is an adapted sailing dinghy which will enable people with disabilities to go sailing in Rye Harbour. Icklesham Parish Council were pleased to grant £500 to Rye Harbour Sailability towards the purchase of the dinghy in October 2022.

The dinghy was named ‘Kerry’ after one of the first Sailability Sailors – pictured above on the left with Councillor Jacqui Stanford.
